You might paint over a wall in order to remove ink. However, it is better to know how to remove the ink with more traditional cleaning solutions. After all, you may paint a wall only to see that one of your children has created a picture with a marker or ink. So, you need to be well-versed in this type of removal.
One of the rules that you must follow is never to rub in the ink. Whether it appears on the wall or your clothes, you never want to rub this type of stain in order to remove it. So, once you see the ink, you need to get all your materials together to facilitate the removal process.
- Use a Tooth-Whitening Toothpaste
One of the substances that will get rid of ink on a wall or the floor is whitening toothpaste. You can also use a hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol in a spray-type bottle. You will also need a hand towel to remove the stain.
First, you want to try to remove the stain with toothpaste. This type of product is gentle on most surfaces so it is good to start with this product. Apply the toothpaste with the towel and rub the paste in a circular direction.
Once you have applied toothpaste, you will notice that the wall has some filmy residue. In order to remove it, use a warm cloth. Even if you do not see any remaining film, it does not hurt to rub the area with a warm cloth.
- Use a Hand Sanitizer
If you do not see any results from using the toothpaste, you next need to try the hand sanitizer. Use the towel and sanitizer, wiping in a circular motion. A hand sanitizer will work on most wall surfaces.
- Use Rubbing Alcohol
However, if this step does not work, use the rubbing alcohol. Instead of using a circular motion, try to dab out the ink stain.
- Use Hairspray
You might also try spraying the ink on the wall with hairspray if the other methods are not working for you. Once you spray the area, try to dab the ink off with a hand towel as you did with the rubbing alcohol. This approach is often successful for removing this type of wall stain.
Other Solutions
You might also try a more natural solution by making use of vinegar. Mix one part vinegar with three parts water and take a soft cloth to remove the ink. Use a circular motion to remove the ink stain. You might also use a lemon bleach added to a spray bottle to get rid of a marker or ink stain.
In order to make the process simpler, first find out the composition of the ink. Water-based inks feature dye colorants and come from rollerball pens while liquid or gel-based inks normally originate from fountain pens or ballpoints. Usually, these types of inks are easier to remove with a solvent. So, you may also try using a spot lifter and a clean cloth. Rub the ink with a cloth in a circular direction. Use hot soapy water to remove the residue.
